Itineraries

DAY 01 > ARRIVAL TO YANGON

Upon arrival to the YANGON airport, you will be welcomed by your station guide and transfer to hotel. Yangon is the authentic and charming city in South East Asia with impressive colonial and spiritual heritage. Start your tour with visiting and meditation at one of the world’s most spectacular monuments, the SHWEDAGON PAGODA, a gleaming bell dome structure that dominates the city’s skyline. Legends state that the scared hairs of the Buddha are enshrined here. The SHWEDAGON is an iconic symbol of the country, a sight not to be missed. After that continue to visit BOGYOKE  (SCOTTS) MARKET, where hundreds of gemstone, handicrafts, art, clothes and food stores are tucked in a maze of color and continue to colonial walking tour in city center if you have time(depends on your arrival flight time)

DAY 02 > YANGON (Visit and Meditate in Yangon)

After breakfast, start our tour from Dhamma Joti Vipassana Meditatotion center of Goenkaji, International Meditation center IMC of Sayargyi U Ba Khin and other important religious sites including Kabar Aye Pagoda and Maha Passana Cave where Sixth Buddhist Council was commemorated. Continue SULE PAGODA- built over 2000 years ago and focal point of numerous historical events in the city. Continue through colonial area until Strand Road, we will see Nan Thida Port for River view and have a glance of River life in Myanmar. Lunch will be at local restaurant. After lunch, visit KANDAWGYI PARK AND ROYAL LAKE, experience to see beautifully built KARAWEIK ROYAL BARGE experience and take photos of scenic beauty together with Shwe Dagon pagoda on lake view. Visit 65 meters long CHAUK HTET GYI reclining Buddha image, which was built about 100 years ago originally. (Optional: visit Saya Thet gyi’s village situated at the other side of the river will need to cross Yangon River by Ferry boat (15 minutes) Car ride for 40’p minutes (One way). So the whole tour can take at least 3 hours including one hour to sit at Saya Thet Gyi Meditation center.)

DAY 03 > YANGON - BAGAN

After breakfast, transfer to airport for your domestic flight to BAGAN. Upon Arrival, your will be warmly welcome by Compassionate Travels Myanmar guide. Visit highlight of Bagan with SHWEZIGONE STUPA, the first stupa built in Bagan by King Anawratha in 1059 A.D. Continue our tour to another Cave temple GUBYAUKGYI (Wet-Kyi-Inn) with mural paintings from 12 century, unfortunately some were stolen in late 19 th century. Visit ancient THARABAR GATE and moat from 12th century with Nat statues inside the shrine. Lunch will be at local restaurant. Start your tour again with the most beautiful architectural style of Bagan, ANANDA TEMPLE with 4 standing Buddha images and sandstone carving life of Prince Sidhartha until he became Buddha. Visit NANDA OAK KYAUNG Monastery with mural paintings from 17th -18th century. Continue your tour with the most treasured art of Lacquerware factory which is the best art of Bagan handicrafts and produced since the time of Myanmar Kings. Complete your day with beautiful sunset over the beautil Ayeyar Waddy River from BUPAYA or SHWESANDAW PAGODA.

DAY 04 > BAGAN-MT POPA-BAGAN

After breakfast, meditate at Hnat Pyit Taung area, where is the places started meditation places in Myanmar. Visit a monastic education school of Bagan. We will drive to our main destination to Popa, 45 km drive (1.5 hours), an extinct volcano with spectacular views. Its shrine is dedicated to animist spirits known as “nats” and you will have time to climb the 777 steps to the shrine at the top of the peak. On the way to Popa, we will visit local village to learn about local way of life, Toddy Palm Plantation and experience the production of jiggery and other products from Palm tree. Have a taste of those products with local tea or have a try local palm wine and liquor. Enjoy Lunch at the Popa Mountain Resort and have a break after long drive. After a visit and relax, drive back to Bagan.

DAY 05 > BAGAN-PAKOKU-MONYWA

After breakfast, morning drive from Bagan to Monywa, which is one and a half hour to reach Pakkoku first. At Pakkoku there’s one Buddha image’s throne which is world famous for the best teak wood carving. Layers of wood have been curved for the cost of 60 kg of gold for two years work. Continue driving toward Monywa, the City of Ledi Sayadaw and visit Dhamma Nyarna Dhaja Vipassana meditation centre, Shwe Taung Oo where Ven.Ledi Sayadaw’s meditation cave. Check in to the hotel. After having lunch at a local restaurant, we will start our exploration of the city. Visit Than Boddhae and Bodhi Tataung pagodas, world second tallest standing Buddha image, reclining Buddha image and 9,000 Buddha images sitting under the Bodhi trees. Visit Maha Ledi monastery where they kept over 900 marble stone slabs recorded teaching of Ledi Sayardaw. Overnight at Monywa.

DAY 06 > MONYWA-SAGAING-MANDALAY

After breakfast, cross Chin Dwin river by Ferry or by own car depending on situation, take 30 minutes drives toward Pho Win Taung. At this place, you can see Myanmar’s unique stone curved structures built for Buddha images, mythological statues, mural paintings and other decorated items. Drive back to Mandalay and will visit main Market in SAGAING to see their imported goods from India and their local products. Continue to Soon Oo Pun Nya Shin pagoda, a panoramic view of Sagaing hills, Ava, Ayeyarwaddy river and Far away Mandalay. Visit U Min Thone Sae Kaung Hmu Daw Pagoda which was built in the form of Sanchi Stupa from Inda. Silver Smith Around the pagoda, local people are selling interesting products from their places, you can see many sellers of Thanakhas=Traditional Myanmar make-up from trees and Kyauk Pyin=circular sand stone to grind Thanakha and many other local products.

DAY 07 > MANDALAY

After breakfast, visit Maha Muni Buddha image, the most revered Buddha image of Myanmar covered with thick layers of gold leaves. Drive through workshops of Marble stone carving and umbrella for Pagodas. Visit Handicraft center where they make beautiful tapestries, traditional puppet, delicate wood carvings and stylish and serene Buddha statues from different materials. Experience the Gold leaves pondering workshop where they produce for Pagodas and Buddha images. Visit Ku Tho Daw pagoda which is UNESCO world heritage site known as “The world biggest book” with 729 marble stone slabs, inscribed Buddha's full Tipitaka teachings inside three walls. Group sitting meditation at Dhamma Mandapa Vipassana Meditation center. Continue to t Shwe Nan Daw Kyaung Golden Palace monastery which was the palace of King Mindon whom is the founder of Mandalay city in 1860. After that Shwe Kyin monastery for monks and novices evening prayer and will receive Sangha, Metta chant at the middle of the 200 Sanghas. Donate some soft drinks to the monks.

DAY 08 > MANDALAY-AVA-SAGAING-MANDALAY

After breakfast, drive to Maha Gandayone monastery where over 1,300 monks and novices are staying and will perform stationary and requisites dana for all monks, novices and trainee novices=Pho thu daw. Visit The world longest teak wood bridge (4,000 feet=1.2 km) called U Bein Bridge. After that enjoy the famous silk and cotton weaving factories of Amarapura where they produced the best and most exquisite Myanmar traditional hand woven silk longies and shawls since the time of Myanmar kings. Continue to Mingun; is situated at the other side of Ayeyarwaddy River. You will take a private boat on Ayeyarwaddy river for an hour upstream to reach this small and interesting village called Mingun. Mingun Patho Daw Gyi Pagoda, an unfinished pagoda called Patho Daw Gyi was built but left unfinished. Continue to Mingun Bell weighting 90.5 tonns, and casted in 1805. It is the third largest bell in the world but the biggest one which is hanging and can strike the bell. After that to Mya Thein Dan Pagoda, built in the form of Burmese astrological belief as Mt.Meru. Beautiful architectural style is unique and you can climb to the base of the main stupa. From there, you can enjoy scenery of Ayeyarwaddy river, Mingun PathoDawgyi and surroudings. Mingun Home for aged is also a good place to study and put your contributions.You can visit Mingun by walking or just take Ox Cart taxis for fun. Drive back to Mandalay and enjoy the sunset over Mandalay city from Mandalay Hill.

DAY 09 > MANDALAY-KYAUK SEI-MANDALAY

After breakfast, start your wonderful day to go and see the place where U Ba Khin and Wabu Sayadaw met. Drive to Kyauk Sei and visit Ven. Webu Sayadaw’s monastery. On the way you can enjoy the country side including one of the famous river in Myanmar called Zaw Gyi River and Sin Taung (Elephant Mountain). Meals included: Breakfast Hotel: Hotel in Mandalay

DAY 10 >MANDALAY-HEHO-PINDAYA)

After breakfast, transfer to airport for a domestic flight to Heho. Arrive Heho airport, drive to Kalaw and we will visit charming small town called Pindaya on the way to Kalaw. Pindaya is located 48km north of Kalaw and famous with its beauty of historic Poke Ta Loke Lake and Pindaya Cave with countless Baddha images. It is a charming city with rich nature. Self-meditation time at Pindaya Cave.

DAY 11 >PINDAYA-KALAW- NYAUNG SHWE-INLE LAKE

After breakfast, drive to Kalaw, enjoy the beautiful landscapes on the way and visit local market and walk around downtown area. Continue your journey to Nyaung Shwe. On the way you can visit Shwe Yan Pyay Monastery and Pagoda which was built 100 years ago. Upon arrival to Nyaung Shwe, transfer you to Inle to check in at the hotel. Lunch will be at local restaurant. At Inle lake region, visit Shan monasteries, floating villages and floating gardens growing tomatoes, flowers and rice fields. You can also visit to local industries of Inle lake, like lotus and silk weaving, floating villages, Long necked Padaung women weaving, famous Inthar boat making homes, Burmese cats , Silver, bronze casting and carving. Dinner will be your own account and overnight stay at hotel in Inle.

DAY 12 >INLE LAKE – INN DEIN

After breakfast, start your day with a visit to a local market. Continue full day excursion by boat on Inle Lake will include sights of the famous leg rowers, typical floating gardens, local methods of fishing, village life and magnificent scenery. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant on the lake itself. After lunch continue journey to Inn Thein Pagoda complex which can be found after following a stair path, lined up with magnificent columns on both sides. Pagoda complex with over 1000 ruined stupas built in local shan style architecture and bamboo forest. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the hotel.

INLE LAKE – NYAUNG SHWE- HEHO- YANGON

After breakfast, start your day with a visit to a local market. Continue full day excursion by boat on Inle Lake will include sights of the famous leg rowers, typical floating gardens, local methods of fishing, village life and magnificent scenery. Continue journey to Inn Thein Pagoda complex which can be found after following a stair path, lined up with magnificent columns on both sides. Pagoda complex with over 1000 ruined stupas built in local shan style architecture and bamboo forest. Transfer to Heho for the domestic flight to Yangon. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the hotel.
